7 weeks 1 day

Today I am 7 weeks 1 day pregnant! Man, time sure has been flying by lately. I had my first morning sickness episode, and it sucked. I thought I was going to be able to sneak past my first trimester without the evil morning sickness catching me, however, that wasn't the case. I almost made it to 8 weeks though. Apparently, it should start easing off by 10-12 weeks.

I did the baking soda gender test, just for fun. What it is, is you put a tablespoon of baking soda in a cup and pee on it. If the baking soda fizzes, it's a boy. If it doesn't, it's a girl. Of course I know these are all wives tales, but it's still fun. :) Mine didn't fizz a single bubble. I had David take the test to see if it even worked and his fizzed like CRAZY! The "science" behind it is that if you are carrying a boy, they have a higher acidic level, therefor causing the baking soda to fizz and girls are more alkaline, causing the adverse reaction. We'll have to see if it's true :)

My next appointment is November first, about two weeks away. At that appointment, I will be about ten weeks and will schedule my mid-pregnancy ultrasound to find out the gender. YAY!! Oh, my appointment in Phoenix went GREAT. I loved my doctor. I actually had an ultrasound, everything is healthy and heart rate was 120bpm, then saw a genetics counselor to go over the risks of disease the baby will have etc, then met with the high risk doctor. I go back down in early January for a 3D ultrasound and a fetal echo-cardiogram.

Anyways, I think that's all for now. This is what the little jelly bean looks like right now: Crazy how fast it's growing, right?

Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you're daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry.
