15 weeks 1 day

Today I am 15 weeks 1 day pregnant. I feel like every Sunday I get on here in sheer disbelief that another week of my short 40 week pregnancy has gone by. I'm almost half way done. Is that even possible? Didn't I take a pregnancy test yesterday?

I had my first set of Braxton Hick's contractions today. They weren't very comfortable, but not intolerable. They lasted for about two hours and came every ten to fifteen minutes.

Well, anyways... Cravings this week hit me pretty hard. I pretty much live off of orange juice. I drink about 6 to 7 glasses of it a day. I have also been craving fruit, again. Pineapple, oranges, peaches, berries, you name it. Oh, and buffalo chicken. Thanks Jo! She got me hooked ;)

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, it's not an ultrasound or anything. I think it's just to hear the heartbeat, check in, go over the same stuff, and set up my next ultrasound. I have a fetal echo-cardiogram on January 30th down in Glendale. I am SO excited to find out the gender, it's killing me!

Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl!

In your 15th week of pregnancy, your uterus is halfway between your pubic bone and belly button. You may feel Braxton Hicks contractions. These painless and random contractions can be thought of as your body warming up for the big event of birth. If you have more than five per hour, if they come at a steady pace, or if they're accompanied by intense cramps or backaches, call the doctor.
